Ted Nugent teams up with local cops
ARDMORE, OK — Chad Anthony once provided security for legendary rock musician Ted Nugent. He never imagined that one day, their roles would be reversed. The last two months have been filled with intense pain for the Ardmore Police Corporal. A motorcycle accident left Anthony with a broken pelvis, a broken femur and a punctured lung. “I don’t remember anything about that day,” Anthony says.
But he was excited about wearing his Ted Nugent shirt Wednesday because the legendary rocker was scheduled to play at Ardmore’s Heritage Hall that night.
Once Nugent heard about tickets being sold to raise money for Anthony’s medical bills, the “Motor City Madman” agreed to join the effort by raffling an autographed guitar and backstage tickets.
“Pretty incredible,” Anthony says. “Not everyday you get somebody to help you as big as him.”
“When I heard that Chad got injured, we immediately kicked into Uncle Ted’s blood brother campfire mode,” Nugent said Tuesday.
Nugent has been a reserve Deputy in Michigan for decades and says he holds a spiritual bond with officers and military servicemen and women who provide the security of the American dream.
“They’re there for us and in time of need, we want to be there for them,” Nugent says. “We’re not all equal. They’re better than we are. They face the beast every day on our behalf to make our neighborhoods and our lives safe and secure.”
“I’ll owe him the rest of my life,” Anthony says.
When asked if he was a bigger Ted Nugent fan, Anthony replied, “Much bigger fan.”
He hopes to return to the Ardmore Police Department once he recovers.
At Wednesday’s concert he’s giving Nugent his personal badge which “means the World.”
